10. San Francisco 49ers (1-2)

What has happened to the 49ers? This was my team to win the Super Bowl. The defense was as good as ever, the offense lost Crabtree for most of the year, but added Anquan Boldin who blew up in the first game. Then the Seahawks happened, and things began to go downhill. The Colts didn’t just beat them, then ran right through them, the vaunted 49ers defense were just bowling pins to Ahmad Bradshaw and Trent Richardson. Colin Kaepernick has regressed so far in just two games, and it’s completely astonishing. This is the guy that lit up the Packers week one, and seemed destined to become one of the NFL’s best young quarterbacks. Instead he’s fumbling around in the backfield, unable to make any throws. Yet despite all these terrible struggles, I just can’t drop them off this power rankings for this week. They have way too much talent to be playing like his, and I do think they will turn things around in a big way and still make the playoffs. Fortunately, it’s still very early in the season, and these things can be corrected, but it needs to be done quick, as who knows what another loss like this could do to the psyche of Kaepernick?
