32 teams strapped on their helmets & pads!
By Matt DeLucia
Can you actually believe it’s week 6 of the NFL’s season all ready? It seems like it was only yesterday that all 32 teams strapped on their helmets and pads. Each of them had hopes and prayers of holding the famous Lombardi trophy, as they entered the opening weekend. A few things have changed over the course of the last five weeks. As 23 of the 32 teams in the NFL still have their postseason dreams alive. Unfortunately for about 9 teams the same can’t be said for them.
As their dreams and hopes are just about dashed at this point of the season, and it’s only week 6. As we still have four (4) teams that are searching for first victory. They are the Rams, Buccaneers, Chiefs and Titans. While five (5) others just happened to have lucked out and they actually won a game. They are the Panthers, Lions, Raiders, Browns and the Bills. Now in my opinion out of these 9 teams only the Chiefs have actually had a pretty good season.
They’ve played some inspired football at times, the bad news for them is that they just can’t seem to get over that “hump” and finish an opponent off. The Chiefs have been in the majority of their games over the course of the young season. They also came dam close to knocking off the Ravens in the opening game of the year. Then again a few weeks later as they took the Cowboys to overtime, before losing on a great play by the Cowboys.
The only game they haven’t really been in was the game with the Eagles, which was back in Week 3. If you minus that game, when they were just out-played and manhandled all over the field. I say the Chiefs have a pretty good young team.
Something tells me that with their schedule over the course of the next few weeks, they’ll win at least 3 of 5. They play the Redskins (today) followed by the Chargers, Jaguars, Raiders and the Steelers. I’m a believer that they can beat the Redskins, Jaguars and Raiders. Which would give their young team a much needed boost. Now I’m not saying that they’re going to make the play-offs this year but if they could possibly get their record to 6-10, 7-9 or even 8-8 it would be a huge positive.
Besides out of these 9 teams that I’ve mentioned, who are either win-less or only have 1 victory. The team with the most potential for success over the rest of the season, would be the Chiefs. They have a good coaching staff in place, a QB that should only get better with time. They just need to fill a few holes in the offense and defense and then next year they just might make the play-offs.
