Never Nap On The NFL’s First Day Of Free Agency!

Well I just learned a very important lesson, never nap on the NFL’s first day of free agency!  The world will pass you by, and you’ll miss so much after only taking a short two hour nap.  That’s how I was feeling when I woke up this afternoon and turned on the NFL Network, to catch up on today’s happening.  So let play some catch up and get everyone up to date on latest happenings!

LATEST NEWS FROM DAY 1 OF FREE AGENCY:

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS:  Have signed both RB Fred Taylor (sorry Buffalo) from the Jaguars, and TE Chris Baker from the Jets.  The moves will definitely bolster the offense for New England, as Taylor gives the Pats some added insurance for the often injured Laurence Maroney.  Adding Baker to the TE mix gives them a sure handed play-maker.  Toss in the return of Tom Brady and this will be an interesting offense next season.  Terms from either deal have not been released at this press time.

Also concerning the Patriots, it looks like our old friend linebacker Mike Vrabel is headed to the Kansas City Chiefsfor an undisclosed draft pick.  Vrabel is under going a physical at this time.  If everything checks out fine the deal should be a done deal.  More details to come later when they are made available.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS:  The Steelers who where very close to losing Guard Chris Kemoeatu earlier in the day to the Jets.  Have turned things back in their favor as they have re-signed him to a five-year $20 million deal.

BALTIMORE RAVENS:  The Ravens were mere moments away from having to replace LB Bart Scott who was very close to signing with the Jets.  Have been given a reprieve for the time being.  Negotiations are back on with Scott and the Ravens.  Scott called the Ravens and has given them the “chance” to match the five-year $ 40 million offer.

The Ravens have also signed CB Dominique Foxworth, away from the Atlanta Falcons.  The signing is reportedly a multi-year offer with $16.5 million guaranteed.

Also, making the news are the rumors that Ray Lewis has reportedly told a friend his “days” in Baltimore are “officially” over.  Of course now that the team has reentered the talks with Scott, will Lewis have a change of heart.  Stay tuned as the Lewis saga will continue for awhile, more on this when anything breaks.

NEW YORK JETS:  Talk about a tough day to be a J-E-T-(we still suck) S fan, as they were close to signing two key players.  And then to have at least one of the Kemoeatu, slip through their fingers and return to his old club.  But for it happen twice in one day would be devastating for the Jets.  All the Jets needed was to get Scott to sign the dotted line and the deal would of been done, but NOPE he has a slight change of heart and things are back on hold for the moment.

TENNESSEE TITANS:  Still reeling from the loss of Haynesworth, earlier in the day, they’ve made a move to shure up their defense by re-signing nickel back Vincent Fuller.  Terms of this deal have not been released at this time.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS:  The Bucs have bolstered their offense by trading for the often injured TE Kellen Winslow.  Tampa Bay had to give up undisclosed draft picks to the Cleveland Browns in order to get Winslow.  Here’s a deal that’s a win-win for both sides, the Browns get rid of a troublemaker and get much needed draft picks to help rebuild their club.  For Tampa, they get a player who when healthy can be one of the game’s fiercest and top tight-end.
