Picks Of The Week!
By Matt DeLucia
Welcome to Musket Fire’s picks of the week for the week 4 schedule. We got off to a mediocre start last week going 9-7. Time to do better this week and get the train rolling in the right direction. Remember to check out the week’s top 5 match-ups for my top games.
ATLANTA (2-1) AT CAROLINA (2-1)
The winner of this game combined with a Tampa Bay loss, takes over first place in the NFC South. I like Carolina’s offense with Steve Smith back in the mix and love the way Jonathan Stewart is running the ball so far this yr. Can Ryan and Turner move the ball vs the Panthers defense will be the key for the Falcons. I’ll take defense over offense in this contest. CAROLINA 26-20
CLEVELAND (0-3) AT CINCINNATI (0-3)
Looks like a boring game between win less teams, but WATCH OUT this has potential for fireworks. Let’s not forget last year when Palmer and Anderson combined for 11 touchdowns. Neither teams defense will stop the other so it’s another shoot out in the making. In the end the combo of air and ground games will prevail. That’s why I like the Browns, and pick them to win their first game. CLEVELAND 34-24
HOUSTON (0-2) AT JACKSONVILLE (1-2)
To many questions about Matt Schaub surrounding the Texans and their offense. Steve Slaton won’t run against the Jags defense this week. David Garrard will expose the Texans weaknesses and enjoy hitting Jones-Drew and Taylor with the nice five yard over the middle pass and watch them run wild after the catch. The Jaguars rack up win number two and roll easily this week. JACKSONVILLE 28-14
DENVER (3-0) AT KANSAS CITY (0-3)
Look out here’s a Super Bowl winner starting at QB. It’s not Jay Cutler folks it’s Damon Huard for the Chiefs. And it doesn’t mean anything, this game will be all Denver from the opening. The Broncos with their arsenal of weapons will enjoy this rout. Good news for Chiefs fans your a week closer to securing that first draft pick next year. DENVER 41-17
SAN FRANCISCO (2-1) AT NEW ORLEANS (1-2)
The 49ers have all cylinders firing and off to a great start. Can Frank Gore and J.T. O’Sullivan continue their winning ways? The Saints have been hit by the injury bug (Colston and Shockey) and piss poor play calling on part of their head coach. But forget those problems for this week anyways. Look for Reggie Bush to open the field on all sides of the ball. Drew Brees to fire away at will and lead their team to a victory. Sorry niner fans not this week. NEW ORLEANS 34-31
ARIZONA (2-1) AT N.Y. JETS (1-2)
Brett Favre’s ankle, the Jets lack of running game last week. A very young secondary going up against Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. What’s all that spell for any Jets fan…..D-O-M-E, that’s what. One good note we get to watch two of the league’s oldest QB’s battle head to head. ARIZONA 31-24
SAN DIEGO (1-2) AT OAKLAND (1-2)
A few things to watch for in this game. The show LT and Rivers put on going up against a weak defense and a team in disarray. Lane Kiffin as head coach of the Raiders on the sideline for the last time. Another week of Raiders Nation shacking their heads wondering why is JaMarcus Russell and not someone else leading this team. CHARGERS 34-15
BUFFALO (3-0) AT ST. LOUIS (0-3)
The Bills can all thank the foot of Rian Lindell for last week’s victory. You also have a new quarterback in St. Louis, it’s now Trent Green. How many hits will it take to knock him out this year? That answer could be known very quickly if his offensive line doesn’t block anyone again this week. Watch out for another coach who’s on the hot seat, this week it’s Scott Linehan, who joins coaches from Oakland, KC and New York that are feeling the pressure. BUFFALO 27-17
TEAMS ON A BYE: DETROIT, INDIANAPOLIS, MIAMI, NEW ENGLAND, N.Y. GIANTS AND SEATTLE
