New England Patriots: Tom Brady ranked as a top 3 player in 2017
By Nick Ziegler
Pro Football Focus recently released their list of the top 50 players heading into the 2017 season. Where did New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady rank?
After having arguably the best season of his career, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is seeking his sixth Super Bowl in 2017.
Despite being suspended for the first four games of the season in 2016, Brady was able to finish with some impressive numbers. He totaled 28 touchdown passes and just two interceptions. The superb ratio set a new NFL record for a single season.
Coming into 2017, Brady might have the best weapons that we have ever seen in New England. Tight end Rob Gronkowski is healthy, and the Patriots also added wide receiver Brandin Cooks. With Gronkowski, Cooks, and Julian Edelman, Brady should have no problem finding someone to throw it too.
Recently, Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus ranked the top 50 players heading into 2017. Brady came in ranked third on the list. Here’s what Monson had to say about Brady heading into the season.
"At the ripe age of 39, Brady put together the greatest quarterback season PFF has graded over the past decade-plus. His PFF grade of 99.3 was comfortably ahead of the chasing pack and didn’t leave a whole lot of room for improvement. Brady threw only two interceptions all season (albeit a 12-game season), but what is most remarkable is that he only threw three turnover-worthy passes all year, and was not merely the benefit of statistical luck or dropped interceptions from defenders."
Being ranked third on the list is certainly a good spot for Brady. It is hard to imagine that he will be able to replicate the efficiency that we saw last season.

The two players in front of him are also excellent players in J.J. Watt and Aaron Donald. Both are forces to be reckoned with on the defensive side of the ball, and will likely be battling for Defensive Player of the Year honors. For Brady, he will be focused on doing what it takes to bring a sixth ring to New England.
