Of course, this is part of the NFL’s color rush initiative on Thursday Night Football, not a new regular kit. But nonetheless, the Patriots color rush jerseys are worth talking about. Here are some immediate reactions.

Surprisingly, the Patriots color rush jerseys are not red. The general consensus leading up to Tuesday morning’s announcement as that the Patriots would don red on in Week 3 against the Houston Texans, but that turns out not to be the case.

Unfortunately, the Patriots color rush jerseys are not silver. This writer was a huge fan of the silver jerseys the Patriots wore periodically from 2003 through 2007. The Patriots don’t use their unique silver color as well as they could, and this would have been a great time bring that color out again.

The monochromatic look appears for the first time since 2002. The last time the Patriots wore all-blue, the year was 2002. The Patriots sported the all-blue look in two games, against the Denver Broncos and the Green Bay Packers. Having lost both of those contests, the all-blue was retired and it is now coming to light for the first time in 14 years.

Best part about these Patriots color rush jerseys: the shoulders. It’s a sharp look. The white stripe sandwiched between two red stripes is reminiscent of the old red jerseys, but unique in its own way.
