Round One, Pick 29: Kony Ealy (DE, Missouri)

I’ve said in the first mock draft, the Patriots will be taking a defensive line prospect in the first round for a while now, if they indeed stay in the first round, save for one player that I will save for a later piece. Kony Ealy is the pick in this round, standing at 6’4 and 273 pounds, Ealy is a very powerful, and also explosive player coming off the edge. A player who gives great versatility, he can move inside and outside, is great at stopping the run and setting the edge, but is also a very good pass rusher when asked to be. Ealy would give the Patriots a very formidable trio of defensive ends along with Rob Ninkovich and Chandler Jones. He would become a very integral part of the Patriots defensive line rotation, and give the Patriots one of the most dominant defenses in football.

Other Options: DT Louis Nix III, DL Stephon Tuitt, DE Dee Ford
