Round One, Pick 29: Kony Ealy (DE, Missouri)

I’ve said in the first mock draft, the Patriots will be taking a defensive line prospect in the first round for a while now, if they indeed stay in the first round, save for one player that I will save for a later piece. Kony Ealy is the pick in this round, standing at 6’4 and 273 pounds, Ealy is a very powerful, and also explosive player coming off the edge. A player who gives great versatility, he can move inside and outside, is great at stopping the run and setting the edge, but is also a very good pass rusher when asked to be. Ealy would give the Patriots a very formidable trio of defensive ends along with Rob Ninkovich and Chandler Jones. He would become a very integral part of the Patriots defensive line rotation, and give the Patriots one of the most dominant defenses in football.

Other Options: DT Louis Nix III, DL Stephon Tuitt, DE Dee Ford

Your introduction to the article was recopied into the Kony Ealy section:

“Like Welcome to Musket Fire’s second New England Patriots seven round mock draft of the offseason.”

Other than that, good mock. I like the De’anthony Thomas pick. I actually had a debate with a friend stating that 3rd down RB depth was important, when Vereen went down, none of our RBs were catching anything during the Bengals game! My only change, I think we’d go Niklas 2nd round and a center in the 3rd round.

nice mock draft love most of the picks. Gator Hoskins is a great pick. 2nd round and 3rd round picks weren’t great though. if Austin seferian Jenkins is still around for our second round pick I would take him and draft a Centre in the 3rd.

Just wanted to change things up from last week’s Mock Draft 1.0. Had a tight end in round two in that one.
