Yes! Finally the Patriots select someone that will please the fan-base. With the 59th pick in the NFL draft the Patriots selected receiver Aaron Dobson. This is what we have been looking for. Dobson is a good prospect at receiver and hopefully he will give Brady another solid weapon on the offensive end.

Dobson is a very versatile receiver, meaning that he can play in the slot and on the outside. He also has exceptional hands and that is another key component if you think you can play in the Patriots offense. If you cannot catch the ball consistently then you won’t last long with Tom Brady. Thankfully Dobson has some of the best hands in this years draft, and he has made some spectacular catches in his career. Dobson stands at 6’3 and he weighs 210 pounds and ran a 4.42 40 time at his pro day. That is a big receiver  and that is something that the Pats desperately need. Something that ESPN analyst Todd McShay pointed out was the fact that Dobson is a very smart football player. That is a very good point because you have to be a smart guy to survive in the Patriots system. The Patriots have struggled mightily when it comes to drafting wide receivers in recent years. One of the reasons why they may have struggled is because the receivers they picked were not as smart as someone like Dobson. Even a guy like Chad Johnson, he is not the smartest football player and that is probably why he failed here in New England.

I truly believe that Dobson can finally be that vertical threat that has been missing from this New England offense. Obviously with the two tight ends and Amendola over the middle, the Patriots are going to need Dobson to make some plays on the outside and I think he is very capable of doing that for them.  I am very excited about this pick for the Pats, and hopefully Dobson can come through for them.
