Chad Ochocinco, The Politician?

facebooktwitterreddit

Chad Ochocinco hasn’t had his best season in New England up to this point. He had only 15 catches for 276 yards and a touchdown in the regular season, played one snap in the divisional round against the Denver Broncos, and was inactive for the AFC Championship against the Baltimore Ravens. Whether he plays in Super Bowl XLVI, or is even active, is anybody’s guess at this point. However, he was active last night on Twitter during President Barak Obama’s State of the Union address. Apparently, it was Ochocinco’s first foray into watching the State of the Union, and I suppose politics in general, but his play-by-play of the speech was nothing short of…riiiiight.

Could Ochocinco be setting himself up for a future in politics? Perhaps he’ll run for office: Can you say Senator Ochocinco? How about Governor Ochocinco? Maybe he’ll be looking for a position in the White House should Obama get re-elected. Is Obama looking for any more White House czars??? Perhaps Ochocinco could be the White House football czar, I mean, why not? I highly doubt President Obama is adverse to adding another government position. How about Ochocinco, political pundit? How would he look on CNN or sitting next to Bill O’Reilly on FOX News…maybe not.

Let’s look at some of his better tweets from last night’s State of the Union address.

These tweets come courtesy of @ochocinco. The words in italics are my notes:

“Not being rude but if they stand up and clap on every statement Obama says this could go on well over 3 hours.

“Anybody notice the guy over Obamas left shoulder doesn’t seem very happy and he’s not smiling. He’s not clapping with joy” FYI: That was Speaker of the House John Boehner, a Republican. More on him, and from him, in a few…

@SpeakerBoehner Just read some of your tweets and you seem pretty angry kind sir. I can see you on tv but you’re not smiling. Hope you’re ok”

“Speech is awesome but how did he manage to memorize so much material?” Apparently, Ocho didn’t know that President Obama, as most politicians do when delivering big speeches, uses a teleprompter.

“I learned that Obama will again and John Boehner isn’t a happy guy.” I’m not sure what it is that Obama “will again.” Grow government?

That was all from last night during the speech. Next comes some tweets from this morning, including a response from an unlikely tweeter.

@SpeakerBoehner Hello Mr. Boehner, hoping you are in better spirits today. If all else seems bad in life just remember I love you kind sir.”

@SpeakerBoehner@ochocinco: Thanks & good luck in the @SuperBowl we’ll see you in the playoffs next year. Go#Bengals #WhoDey That was Speaker of the House John Boehner tweeting back to Ochocinco. Ocho’s response?

“Totally awesome that John Boehner just tweeted me.”

“You damn right he’s doing an awesome job Master Sen-Sai” That was Ochocinco’s response to a question asking if he thinks President Obama is doing a good job.

So, what do you think? CNN-quality? Maybe (P)MSNBC? He may have to consider a new career after this past season.
