Moss Not Once, Not Twice, But Three Times!

What an afternoon for Matt Cassel and Randy Moss.  They hooked up for 3 touchdowns and 125 yards receiving.  We heard touchdown to Moss called not once, not twice, but three times from the CBS announcers.  Moss who’s shown celebrating with teammates Sammy Morris and Wes Welker in the above caption, had a huge breakout game.  The New England Patriots defeated the Miami Dolphins by the final score of  48-28 to stay within a game of the division leading New York Jets.  The Jets who knocked off the previously unbeaten Tennessee Titans in rather an easy manner.  The victory by the Patriots keep them in the hunt for the division.  It also doesn’t knock Miami out from it either, but does make their road a lot tougher to accomplish now.

Now if you want to talk a dam nail bitter of a game, that’s what the Pats and Dolphins provided for the first 50 plus minutes.  The biggest lead was on the Patriots part by 10 points and that only lasted about 2 minutes.  Once the Dolphins got the ball to start the fourth down by 10 they only took 5 plays and only a 1:49 seconds to score on a Ricky Williams from Chad Pennington13 yard reception.  This was the type of game it was all afternoon, like a ping pong match.  Just back and forth with neither defense doing much to stop the others until late in the game when New England came up with a game saving interception, by Brandon Meriweather.  For Meriweather that’s his fourth interception of the season and gave the Patriots that much needed “big play” that they lacked from the defense.  The other Pats player that helped out the cause and came up big all day was nose tackle Vince Wilfork.  Wilfork caused problems for the offensive line of the Dolphins by his constant shifting on the line, and his ability to close up the holes and stuffing the runner for little or no gain.

Up next for both these teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers arriving to Foxboro for a late afternoon show down with New England.  And for Miami they have the fun task of traveling to face the St. Louis Rams in St. Louis.  For the Dolphins that’s great news as they should have an easy cake walk type of game.  Especially if the play the same type of offensive game as they did with New England.  More to come on this game later tonight or Monday.  For now enjoy this victory and let’s focus our attention on the Steeler, who after their game are enjoying an extra few days.
