Millen Is Ousted – Burress Is Suspended!

It’s Wednesday already, we all know what that means.  It’s hump day so to speak.  But for a select few in the NFL it’s just another bad news day.  Matt Millen is ousted and Plaxico Burress is suspended for the teams week 5 game with Seattle.  There’s never a quiet day in the NFL and today is not the exception.

Mean while in Oakland coach Lane Kiffin is also waiting for the hammer to fall.  When and where that’s still to be determined.  Most reports have it taking place after this week’s game with San Diego.  Why after the game and not before.  That’s an easy answer, Oakland’s on a bye week in week 5.  So that would allow just about two weeks for the team and the new coach to get some coinsistency and familarity.

In my opinion I think Kiffin’s getting the best end of that deal.  Why you might ask, it’s easy why be the head coach of a professional team but basically not have the rights or the decision making ability that comes with the job.  We all know that Raiders owner Al Davis calls the shots and always will till the day they lay his body down once and for all.  Mark my words Lane Kiffin will get another shot at coaching sooner than some may think.  There have been reports of Kiffin being offered the Syracuse job in college.  More to come in the upcoming days as the rest of this story unfolds.

Back to main story Matt Millen is now done in Detriot.  After 7 long dreadful years in the Motor City. what needed to happen a few years ago has happened.  Since 2001 when Millen took over the President and CEO roles for the Lions.  He has guided the team to a 31-84 record the worst in the NFL.  Brought in the wrong head coaches and players for that team and city.  Millen’s not the only one who better watch out.  Head Coach Rod Marinelli had better be looking over his shoulder.  After starting out 0-3 in the 08 season, their schedule is not getting easier and a few more losses tacked on with a new main man in at helm just might spell the end for ole Rod.

In New York are the Giants, their fans and rest of the organization fed up with Plaxico Burress.  Currently for now the answer is YES as Burress has been suspended for team’s week 5 game with Seattle.  Reports have stated that Burress missed a team meeting on Monday and was unavailable via the phone, when the Giants were trying to contact their star receiver.  Can New York be shocked at this, I hope they aren’t they knew what type of player they were getting from Pittsburgh when they signed him.  Burress has always been the off the cuff type of player that talks and walks to his own beat.
