The New England Patriots have once again been forced to deal with drama this offseason. This time, cornerback Jack Jones has gotten involved in legal trouble over possessing firearms in an airport. On Tuesday, Jones pleaded not guilty to nine weapons charges in East Boston Municipal Court.

The situation is far from over, but it ultimately highlights a larger issue within the Patriots organization.
The legal drama is unsurprising for the Patriots because this is who they are.

Throughout the last twenty years, the Patriots have been a guilty team and one filled with drama. Since Bill Belichick became head coach, New England has constantly employed players with legal troubles and been involved in bad situations as an organization. From Spygate to Deflategate, the Patriots have been involved in trouble with the league for many years.

In terms of players, the Patriots have gotten involved with bad apples during Belichick's tenure.
Within the last four years, they signed Antonio Brown to cut him quickly due to sexual assault allegations. The Patriots' worst situation with a player was Aaron Hernandez and his murder conviction. They gave him a lucrative contract before he ended up going to jail for life.

History usually repeats itself, and it did with the Patriots as they ignored the warning signs with Jones. They should have learned their lesson after what happened with Hernandez, but they failed to do so. This is why the Jones situation is not surprising because the Patriots have a history of legal trouble. They are a team that can never seem to get out of their way, and it has become embarrassing. They are not as much of a model organization as people think they are.

Ultimately, it will be interesting to see the fallout of the Jones situation and how it impacts the team this season.
