New England Patriots stay put in Week 2 NFL Power Rankings
By Nick Ziegler
The Patriots were able to silence all of the doubters in Week 2 with a big win over the New Orleans Saints. While the Saints aren’t a great team, there was a lot of like about the Patriots’ win in Week 2. On offense, Tom Brady turned in a vintage performance with over 400 passing yards. Before being forced to leave the game early with a groin injury, Rob Gronkowski also played well with over 100 receiving yards.
After a somewhat disappointing first week, the Falcons looked very good on Sunday Night Football against the Packers. As they opened their beautiful new stadium, the Falcons’ offense looked like it was in mid-season form. With a well-balanced attack, the Falcons scored 34 points, and most importantly held on to a big lead late in the game.
For the first time this season, the Raiders have made it to the top spot in the rankings. Thanks to a win and a Packers loss, the Raiders will now have a target on their backs. In Week 2, the Raiders certainly looked like one of the best teams in the NFL, as they cruised to a win against the Jets. Derek Carr continued to play like an MVP candidate, as he tossed three touchdown passes, all of which went to Amari Cooper.
