Patriots vs. Broncos: 6 Bold Predictions

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Peyton Manning may be sidelined, but the looming showdown between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos carries plenty of weight. While still undefeated, Tom Brady and the Patriots have come perilously close to losing in each of the past two weeks. Meanwhile, the Broncos are undergoing the beginning of a long-term change at quarterback with Brock Osweiler manning the controls.

The Broncos’ defense certainly presents a challenge for a Patriots offense that will be without Julian Edelman once again, and possibly Danny Amendola as well depending on the status of his knee sprain. And if the Patriots’ offensive line struggles like they did on Monday Night Football earlier this week, then Brady will feel the full force of the Broncos’ lethal pass rush.

On the other side of the ball, Osweiler will look to continue his coming-of-age campaign against a very respectable Patriots defense, one that could receive a boost should Jamie Collins return to action this week. A win over Brady and the Pats would catapult Osweiler up the NFL quarterbacking ranks, and it just might be enough for Gary Kubiak to make him the full-time starter.
