Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘The Patriot Way’, your number one source to New England Patriots news and analysis from around the web.
Bill Belichick talked about newly signed defensive lineman Kelcy Quarles, and Bruce Gaston yesterday making some really interesting comments on how he felt like the Pats didn’t have the best depth at the defensive tackle position. Lee Schechter of ESPN Boston has more:
“It’s a position that we didn’t feel like we had a great deal of depth in. They’re young, they’re healthy, they’re big, they run well, they have good physical qualities, they have good mental makeup, they’ve been productive in preseason on other teams. So, some combination of all those things I guess.”
“Well, I’m glad Rob is optimistic about his situation. We’ll go through this week, take a look at everybody, and see where everybody is at.”
Speaking of former players, wide receiver Wes Welker has been suspended for four games to start the year due to use of amphetamines. I was really quite surprised by this news, as I always thought Welker was too smart to get into trouble like this. But, evidently, I was wrong.
