Logan Mankins is starting his tenth year in the NFL, and all nine of his previous seasons have been spent with the New England Patriots. However, on August 26th, the burly offensive lineman was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to Bleacher Report, the New England Patriots’ star quarterback Tom Brady is very upset with the Logan Mankins trade.
According to the Bleacher Report video, Tom Brady was very emotional about the Mankins trade. He was sad to lose an outstanding offensive lineman, and he was also unhappy to see the trade happen. In my opinion, Brady has the right to feel this way.
Logan Mankins is a veteran offensive guard, and was one of Brady’s most trusted linemen. Therefore, it is never good for a quarterback to lose one of their favorite linemen, and then there is how the Patriots got rid of Mankins. The Patriots asked for Mankins to take a pay cut, which would have changed his salary from $6.25 million to $4 million. He did not want a pay cut at all, so the Patriots decided to trade him. They traded Logan Mankins to the Buccaneers for tight end Tim Wright, and a fourth round draft pick. Logan Mankins is an excellent offensive lineman, and is almost irreplaceable, so I do not believe that Tim Wright and a fourth round draft pick match Logan Mankins’ worth. This is one reason Tom Brady is upset.
