The Patriot Way-New England Patriots News From Around The Web

Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘The Patriot Way’, your number one source to New England Patriots news from around the web.

The Patriots were thumped by the Redskins in their preseason opener, losing by a score of 23-6. Here is the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe’s recap.

Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston highlights the play of Ryan Mallett, and Jimmy Garoppolo, and how it was two very different quarterbacks on the field. As Reiss states, it was a tale of two backup QB’s, one that Garoppolo easily won. Of course, we shouldn’t overreact to one game, but he certainly put on a show against the Skins. His deep ball in particular was impressive, as he dropped quite a few deep throws right into the hands of receiver Brian Tyms.

Sports Illustrated’s Don Banks talks about why the arrival of Darrelle Revis, and Brandon Browner signals there is a change in the approach for the Patriots secondary. Not only that, but there is a change in how the NFL will be enforcing defensive holding and illegal contact, which may affect the Patriots in a big way.

And finally, we return to Mike Reiss, who has a first quarter, second quarter, and third quarter review of Thursday’s game. Great breakdowns from Reiss.
