Jimmy Garoppolo is the Reason Brady Quinn Won’t be Signed

Brady Quinn stopped by New England earlier this week in an attempt to continue his less than stellar NFL career.  Quinn stated that his workout went well but things would have to happen in order for him to sign with the team.

It wouldn’t be a shock if the “things” Quinn was referring to was Ryan Mallett being traded. All offseason there have been rumors circulating that Mallett would be traded somewhere, probably Houston. Fans clamored at the thought of Mallett being swapped for the then disgruntled Andre Johnson. However, that’s not going to happen.  Johnson is back with Houston and all rumors about Mallett being on the trade block have been axed by Coach Belichick. Even though Belichick has stated numerous times that Mallet won’t go anywhere, rumor’s still state that there is a mutual interest between the Patriots and Texans for Mallett.

Here’s the problem: Jimmy Garoppolo has struggled all camp. If Garoppolo was able to come in and completely blow Mallett out of the water and clearly be the back-up to Tom Brady, the Mallett trade would have already happened. But since Jimmy has had more head scratching plays than head turning, Mallet is firmly planted as Tom Brady’s back-up.

Basically Brady Quinn is saying that Jimmy Garoppolo is the reason his NFL career is probably going to be over. More than likely the Patriots would have been happy signing Quinn as the third string QB if Garoppolo would have come in and flat out beat Mallett for the back-up spot, but since Garoppolo is easily the worst of the 3 QBs on the current roster, Quinn won’t be signed, Mallett isn’t going anywhere and that definitely mean Andre Johnson won’t be in a Patriots uniform next season….thanks a lot Jimmy.
