The Patriot Way – New England Patriots News From Around the Web

Welcome to The Patriot Way – New England Patriots News and Links from around the web

– The Patriots signed two back of the roster receivers while placing one on the injured reserve.  In the same piece Nick Caserio lauds fullback James Develin and his abilities and efforts in the offense.  Looks like Develin has a very good shot at making the team as a FB/TE.

– Caserio also noted that the signings of Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner do not signal a change in defensive philosophy.  I’d say the philosophy may be the same, but the method to acquiring players to fit that scheme has (and should have) changed.

– Overshadowed by his performance at receiver, Julian Edelman remains one of the top punt returners, and easily one of the most underrated,  in the league.  Luckily, he still has a strong desire to return punts.

– Mike Reiss has all the news and observations from yesterday’s practice, and Doug Kyed has his take on the practice here.

– Rob Gronkowski is progressing as planned, upping his work load as camp moves along.  It looks like he is on track to be ready for week one of the regular season.

– Second round pick Jimmy Garoppolo is progressing just like any other rookie, some good moments, some not so good ones.

– This former Patriot is glad to be back, though I wonder how long he will stick around this time.
