New England Patriots Sign DT Eathyn Manumaleuna, Release Seali'i Epenesa

The New England Patriots made a few minor roster moves yesterday, as they signed a defensive tackle, while releasing another.

From Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston:

The New England Patriots continue to tweak the back-end of their roster leading into training camp, signing undrafted free-agent defensive tackle Eathyn Manumaleuna. To make room for Manumaleuna, the club waived undrafted rookie defensive tackle Seali’i Epenesa.

As Reiss says, these are simply back-end roster moves before training camp, something that every team does every single year. Defensive tackle is a position where a lot of depth is good in camp, not only for injuries, but to give everybody some solid competition over the next little while.

Manumaleuna is a rookie coming out of BYU. He spent fives seasons as a Cougar. Here are his career stats:

143 total tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, five and a half sacks, one forced fumbles, and even an interception.
