The New England Patriots have finally signed first round pick Dominique Easley. There was a bit of a hold up in the contract negotiations, but as everybody reminded us throughout this ordeal, it was not a serious issue, and it would be resolved shortly.
The signing was widely anticipated as rookie contracts are mostly slotted as part of the collective bargaining agreement, although Easley’s didn’t come as quickly as most others. There are currently just five draft picks across the NFL who have yet to sign with their team.
This is good news for the Patriots, although there right now there is not much the rookie can do with the team. The Patriots are on a bit of a vacation until training camp starts up in late July, which means the players will be working out on their own .
Nevertheless, it is great news for Easley, and the New England Patriots, as once training camp begins, they can begin working on bringing Easley up to speed on their defensive schemes, and preparing him to unleash his explosive potential on the rest of the NFL.
In other news, the New England Patriots also signed undrafted free agent OT Chris Martin to fill the final spot on the roster.
