After a long wait, the New England Patriots have finally released the dates of this year’s training camp. Camp is open to the public, and fans are encouraged to go see the team in action before the season begins.
It will be fun to see how this squad looks on the field, after months of speculation from what they look like on paper. I think that the New England Patriots will be a very good team in 2014, and based off all the reports we saw coming out of minicamp, it looks like it will hold true. But training camp gives us a unique opportunity to see the team in football action, and we can finally make our own observations.
The first practice is schedule to be on July 24th, followed by practices on the following three days. The first two days of practice can’t be held in pads, which means they will hold off until the 26th to put the pads on.
Per NFL rules, the first two days of practice can’t be held in full pads, meaning they are likely to be more of an extension of spring minicamps held in light shoulder pads. The first full-pads practice can be held on Saturday, July 26.
Football is close. Very close.
