New England Patriots OTA's: Rob Gronkowski Among Eight Limited

The media had access to the New England Patriots team activities for the first time today, and from what they passed along, it sounded like a solid practice.

From Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, here is the attendance report for the Pats:

WR Aaron Dobson

WR Brandon LaFell

TE Asa Watson

QB Jimmy Garoppolo

WR Matthew Slater

LG Logan Mankins

CB Alfonzo Dennard

OT Cameron Fleming

DL Dominique Easley

TE Rob Gronkowski

DL Vince Wilfork

CB Justin Green

LT Nate Solder

DL Armond Armstead

DE Will Smith

LB Deonte Skinner

From what Howe and others said, the Pats looked good for their first outing of the year. Howe did mention that a few Tom Brady passes were dropped, which annoyed the quarterback. He then focused primarily on Julian Edelman.

Obviously it is just May, but this can’t be happening come September. Edelman is a fine receiver, but New England needs its taller guys (LaFell and Dobson) to contribute in 2014. Brady has to learn to trust them, even though it will take some time for them to gain a solid rapport.

Howe also pointed out that linebacker Jamie Collins performed well, as well as cornerback Logan Ryan, and backup quarterback Ryan Mallett.

Here is Howe’s full report.
