The Patriot Way – New England Patriots News 5/28

Welcome to The Patriot Way – New England Patriots News and links from around the web

– The Patriots filled out the remaining two spots on their roster by signing two rookie free agent receivers.  Both are long shots to make the roster, but what is more interesting is the fact that a tight end was not signed.

– Speaking of tight ends, former Patriot Aaron Hernandez is set to be arraigned on murder charges today.  The charges stem from a double murder in the south end of Boston in 2012.

– Peter King has a piece of an interview with Tom Brady in his MMQB column.  Brady, at least publicly, is not upset with the Patriots having drafted Jimmy Garoppolo in the second round.  He is right, though, in that as long as he keeps playing well, Mr Garoppolo will not see the field for the Patriots.

– Former Patriot Aqib Talib was asked to rank Brady versus Peyton Manning, and was also asked about Darrelle Revis.

– The Ryan Mallet trade rumors may have slowed down, but the potential fits are still there.  I think if Garoppolo shows he is ahead of schedule during OTA’s, there is a chance they flip Mallett.  The only other scenario where he gets traded is if a team suffers an injury at quarterback.  Either way, don’t expect much in return at this point.

– Keeping with recent tradition, the Patriots are expected to have joint practices with the Redskins and the Eagles leading up to their respective preseason games.

– Glad to see the big man can still move after his injury, even if he was limited at practice.
