With their last pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the New England Patriots have finally gone with a receiver. They just selected Jeremy Gallon out of Michigan.
This pick concludes the Patriots rookie draft class, as they addressed the defensive line, offensive line, offensive backfield, safety, and now the wide receiver position. Of course there is still time for un-drafted rookies to be signed by NFL teams.
Receiver was one of the last remaining needs for the Pats, and while Gallon isn’t exactly the most talented guy in the world, he will give New England more depth as we move towards training camp.
Gallon is a small guy, and because of that, he might not even make the final roster. The Patriots are stacked with small receivers, and unless Gallon somehow manages to blow away everybody this summer, he may get caught in a numbers game, and find himself without a job come September.
He amassed 173 receptions, 2,704 yards, and 17 touchdowns in his four year career at Michigan.
