After it was announced that the New England Patriots had selected defensive tackle Dominique Easley in the first round yesterday, both Easley, and Bill Belichick addressed the media. (Quotes via Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald) Part 1. Part 2. Part 3.
Easley on his health:
“I’m healthy,” Easley said. “I’m just ready to get up there and do whatever coach (Bill) Belichick needs me to do.”
Belichick on Easley’s health status:
“When he gets up here, we’ll work with him and see where he’s at,” Belichick said. “Just like we do with everybody else.”
Belichick on Easley as a player:
“He’s a very disruptive player,” Belichick said. “In college, his stats might have been a little bit deceiving because a lot of times he was the disruptive person on the play but wasn’t the guy who ended up making the tackle. It wouldn’t be on the stat sheet, but the reason the play wasn’t successful was because of his penetration and ability to be disruptive. I think he has a good knack for that. He’s an explosive player.”
Easley on his passion for the game:
“I love football,” Easley said. “I love watching tape on football. I think people probably got the wrong idea, and that’s about it.”
I don’t know about you guys, but I got pretty pumped up reading these quotes. It is obvious that both sides are excited for what is ahead, and based on what both of them stated, Easley loves the game, and his body appears to be ready for him to start working hard at becoming a good Patriot.
