Ryan Mallett Trade to Houston Texans ‘May Be Done Soon’

Mallett Off to Houston

Ryan Mallett, the New England Patriots third-round pick from Arkansas in the 2011 NFL Draft, is rumored to be headed down south to the Houston Texans.

Tom Curran, the Patriots’ long-time beat reporter for CSNNE.com, tweeted that a trade possibility between Houston and New England is imminent.

However, nothing is confirmed quite yet.

Mallett, 27, has took the field as Tom Brady‘s backup as long as he’s been in the NFL. The Patriots have a history of sending Brady’s colleagues to different teams.

After playing a full season in 2008 due to #12′s ACL tear, Matt Cassel and outside linebacker Mike Vrabel were traded to the Kansas City Cheifs for a the 34th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. In 2012, Brian Hoyer was released by the Patriots and signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers before landing a starting job in Cleveland.

Mallett has completed one pass for 17 yards and an interception in his career with the Pats.
