Yesterday, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller released a seven round mock draft. In what has become a popular pick for the Patriots, Miller goes with defensive tackle Dominique Easley for New England.

I like Easley’s game, although his troubles with his knees is definitely a bit scary. However when healthy, he proved that he could be a great defensive lineman, and he would really help stabilize a Pats front that is still trying to recover from an injury plagued 2013 season.

Here are the rest of Miller’s picks for the Patriots:

Round Two: TE Troy Niklas

Round Three: WR Brandon Coleman

Round Four: OG Cyril Richardson

Round Four: RB Andre Williams

Round Six: QB Keith Wenning

Round Six: DE Taylor Hart

Round Seven: SS Isaiah Lewis

Of these picks, I like the Niklas selection the most. Adding a talented tight end in this draft should be a priority for the Pats, and even though Miller doesn’t go with one in the first round, he makes sure New England gets a solid player in round two. Niklas should be able to develop into a quality player to be paired with Rob Gronkowski.

Andre Williams is a surprise, not because he is a running back, but because of the type of back he is. The Pats usually like to go after tailbacks that know how to catch the ball, and work well within an offense that passes a lot. Williams definitely does not fit that mold. He was a beast in college, but solely based on power running. I don’t know if that would work out in Foxboro.

Overall, I think this would be solid haul for the Pats. Only a few more days until all the mock drafts are done, and then the real fun begins.

For me, this would be a weak draft, there are far better players available per round then these & I wouldnt be all that happy if this is what we came away with. I love to read Mock drafts but since Bill keeps everything so tight to the vest, the Mocks arent worth the paper their written on unfortuanetly. Im ok with Coleman but not in the 3rd round, 4th or lower only. Id prefer better than Wenning for a QB pick. I would also hope they use a higher pick then 7th on a safety as its an area of need for a starter.

    Good guess.
