Bold Prediction #1: The Patriots Will Draft A Cornerback In The First Round

These are bold, right?

New England really made an effort to upgrade their secondary over the course of this offseason, as they signed Darrelle Revis, and Brandon Browner. Those two alone should elevate the Pats secondary into the top five in the NFL, regardless of what happens come draft day.

So if the Patriots already added these two, why the need for another defensive back? Because Bill Belichick is a troll….and he’s also pretty damn smart. He knows that injuries are a huge part of the NFL, and not only that, he can’t keep all that talent in the back end locked up forever. In addition to this, there a ton of talented young cornerbacks available this year, starting with guys such as Darqueze Dennard, Justin Gilbert, Kyle Fuller, and Jason Verrett.

So even though it wouldn’t be a popular pick (I wouldn’t like it), Belichick may end up pulling a fast one, and he will draft another cornerback in round one.

It would be a long shot if BB drafted a CB in the first round….I don’t care how good your DBs are, if the D-line can’t get to the QB he will eventually find a target. Seattle had the good coverage but most importantly they had a D-line that put max. pressure on Peyton…good corners without a good D-line doesn’t help much in the playoffs.

I would love it if Manziel fell out of the first round…it would increase the chances of a QB needy team giving BB much more than the worth of the 29th pick (multiple picks in rounds 2-4)

The offensive line needs help (interior) and the Pats definitely need a TE who can contribute immediately opposite Gronk.

BB may take a flyer on a DT in the late rounds or just bring in a couple of DT UDFA to training camp.
