The Patriot Way – New England Patriots News 5/5

Welcome to The Patriot Way – New England Patriots News and links from around the web

– With the NFL draft this week, NBC sports takes a closer look at the Patriots needs.  No surprise to see they list tight end as the top need, but I believe the Patriots will look towards interior offensive and defensive lines before they look at tight end, and most likely trade back if at all possible.  Having said that, I should now fully expect the Patriots to move up to draft a skill player.

– Bleacher Report also takes a look at areas of need the Patriots will address via the draft.  Pass rush depth from the outside is an underrated area of need given the high percentage of snaps both Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich played last season.

– Buck Brooks at released his latest 4 round mock draftand has the Patriots drafting a defensive lineman in the first round.  I believe the Patriots will end up trading back to the beginning of the second round, picking up a third round pick this year, or perhaps a first round pick next year from a team that passed on a quarterback early.  Think Minnesota, Cleveland, Jacksonville, or Arizona, teams that have a need at quarterback but pass for more premier talent at the top of the first.

– Vince Wilfork and Tom Brady were at the Kentucky Derby this weekend, dressed to impress.  Brady proved that even celebrities creep on him.

– For those that remain interested, Aaron Hernandez was indicted on charges stemming from his alleged assault on a fellow inmate.
