The New England Patriots continued their quarterback crazed offseason earlier this week, as they hosted former Eastern Illinois’ signal caller Jimmy Garoppolo.
The New England Patriots continue to devote attention and significant resources to the quarterback position in the NFL draft, as two weeks after creating a buzz by hosting Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater on visits at Gillette Stadium, they welcomed another top prospect earlier this week – Jimmy Garoppolo of Eastern Illinois.
Some analysts, such as ESPN’s Bill Polian, have Garoppolo rated as high as a first-round draft choice.
Garoppolo is an interesting prospect, as he isn’t a “high-profile” guy like Manziel or Bridgewater, but as Reiss mentioned, there are plenty of analysts that think he is deserving of a first round choice.
New England shouldn’t spend a first round pick on a quarterback, but I definitely can see them selecting someone to replace Ryan Mallett later in the draft. I doubt Garappolo drops all the way down to the third or fourth round, but if he does, the Pats have now done their research.
