NFL Draft Rumors: New England Patriots To Meet With TE C.J. Fiedorowicz

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, the Patriots are set to meet with former Iowa tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz.

One of, if not the biggest need for New England as of right now is adding another tight end to Tom Brady‘s offense. Hopefully Rob Gronkowski returns 100% next year, but there is still a void at the other tight end spot. Fiedorowicz has talent, and I think a duo of him and Gronkowski could be formidable for opposing defenses.

The Pats also have already met with safety Deone Bucannon, as reported by Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun.

Washington State All-American safety Deone Bucannon visited the Indianapolis Colts the past two days and starts his two-day visit with the New England Patriots today, according to a league source.

Safety is another area of need for the Patriots, although it is more of a depth need, as opposed to starting caliber talent.

I still see Safety as a big area of need but if their looking at Buchanon that would be a 3rd or 4th round selection. Also he would be a Fill-in/Back-up player IMO, not a Starter. Yesterday Richburg’s name was mentioned but said to be a solid Starter, I disagree and only see him in the same mold as Buchanon, a back-up player with the ability to learn to be more, not an instant Starter.

As of right now, the safety position is set, although it is set in a way that isn’t exactly a strength for New England. D-Mac is terrific, but as much as I love Harmon, he will be exposed if he starts the entire year. So adding someone like Buchanon won’t really help the safety position. If they are to upgrade it, they have to go after someone with a lot of talent.
