Former Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes, now of the Buffalo Bills, issued a series of tweets today predicting that the Bills would beat the Patriots twice this upcoming season. This certainly clears up any questions as to how Spikes feels about his time in New England and the way that things are done under Bill Belichick. There has long been rumored to be friction between the linebacker and the coach, friction that came to a head in the playoffs when the linebacker was placed on the IR when he thought he could have still played.
Well Brandon, you are a below average linebacker, athletically, but an above average linebacker instinctually. As a result, you are a force against the run, where you can shoot gaps and utilize your tremendous hitting ability, but a huge liability more often than not in coverage. Not a terrible player by any stretch, but not a great one either. A player similar to you exists on the team already in Dont’a Hightower, thus, your limitations, your replacement on the roster and your injury concerns (not to mention the now obvious distaste for the way things are done in New England) made you expendable and now your tweets make you seem petty.
Anyone miss Spikes now?
