According to Tania Ganguli of ESPN, before signing with the Ravens, tight end Owen Daniels had visited with the Patriots.
Besides Ravens, Daniels visited with the Packers, Patriots and Redskins. #Texans

This shows that the Pats recognize their need for a tight end, especially one like Daniels, someone that could pair nicely with Rob Gronkowski. Throughout this offseason, I have thought that New England should attempt to address this need through the draft, where there are plenty of talented prospects available. My personal favorite is Jace Amaro, and out of Texas Tech.
Mike Reiss over at ESPN Boston weights in on the need for a tight end:
The Patriots’ visit with the 31-year-old Daniels highlights part of the team’s thinking when it comes to the “move” tight end position. D.J. Williams is the top option on the current depth chart, and there is a possibility that the club could look at first-year receiver Mark Harrison in that type of role.
There aren’t many question marks on the current Patriots roster, but the “move” tight end spot is one of them.
