According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, running back LeGarrette Blount has signed a two year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Ravens’ defense will be competing with running back LeGarrette Blount again next season.
The former New England Patriot agreed to a two-year contract with the Steelers on Friday.
The Ravens maintained interest in Blount throughout the free agent process, but they didn’t submit a formal contract proposal and didn’t have him visit team headquarters, according to sources.
Blount, 27, also had interest from the Patriots, but sources say they didn’t approach the financial commitment of the Steelers.
This isn’t a huge loss for the Pats, although I would have liked to see Blount return to New England in 2014. His physical running style was something that the Patriots offense really benefited from late in the season when the passing game bogged down. Adding depth to the backfield was going to be a priority for Bill Belichick and company regardless, but with Blount now gone, they have to address that area.
Chris Johnson is likely to be released by the Titans, and at the right price, he could be a good fit in Foxboro.
