Welcome to The Patriot Way – New England Patriots News and links from around the web.
- In the trade world for Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson, it appears as though the (hated) Jets have thrown their hat into the ring. I still don’t see the Patriots making this move, not with the salary committed to Jackson (and why would he take a pay cut after a career year?) and the limited space the Patriots have left. On the Jets Jackson would be useless until they can develop or sign a competent quarterback.
-Receiver Julian Edelman shared his thoughts on the free agency process and the Patriots offseason moves as a whole. He also expressed his desire to not leave his quarterback Tom Brady. Hard not to be excited after the moves the Patriots have made, and for the thought of Edelman, Brady, and Gronkowski all appearing on the silver screen together.
- After a few entertaining days, it appears as though Patriots fans will have to do without new wideout Brandon LaFell on twitter. Probably for the best, twitter seems to get athletes in trouble more than it helps them in any way.
- For a review of where the Patriots stand with their own free agents, head over here. I would expect Blount to be back on a low level deal. The interesting free agent is center Ryan Wendell. With Dan Connolly able to play both center and guard, it allows the Patriots to target the best available interior lineman that they deem a fit and move Connolly accordingly. Or they could move Marcus Cannon to guard (where I think his size, strength, and low base would excel) or they can re-sign Wendell if he is seen as the best fit. Something to monitor closely given the retirement of Dante Scarnecchia.
