Wide receiver Julian Edelman talked with the media for the first time since re-signing with the Patriots today, talking about his new contract, and why he couldn’t leave his quarterback, Tom Brady. Here are a few quotes: (via Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston)
“It would be very tough to leave him because he is my dawg.”
On his new deal:
“It’s good to have a little security and knowing that a team believes in you enough to pay you that kind of stuff, and a little security on how many years I’ll be here. I’ve really never been in that situation. I’ve always felt like if I had a bad practice, I could potentially get cut the next day.
“It’s good to be back with this franchise. It’s a surreal moment.”
I have been a little critical of Edelman throughout this free agency period, and even though I still think Emmanuel Sanders would have been a better option for New England, re-signing Edelman was a great move by Bill Belichick and company.
