Patriots Express Trade Interest in WR Desean Jackson

How’s this for juicy free agent gossip? Hours after it was revealed that the Eagles were shopping around wide receiver, Desean Jackson, it was announced that the Patriots and 49ers had expressed immediate interest. The potenial trade could ship Jackson out of Philly for as little as a third round pick.

The acquisition of Jackson would give New England that true deep-ball burner they have lacked in recent years. While everyone should certainly temper their excitement, it is fun to imagine the possibilities in reclaiming an ultra-high octane offense, to go along with the newly-revamped defense.

The Patriots have already added one free agent wide receiver in ex-Carolina WR Brandon LaFell, while also resigining Julian Edelman to a four-year deal.

SF has the advantage of having two 3rd rounders. NE can try to close that with 4th and Amendola, hoping that Edelman stays healthy (…). Interesting situation.

Amendola was the first thought that popped into my mind as well. Whether you’re a fan of this Jackson talk or not, it is indeed an interesting situation.

The thing is that SF can get everywhere on the draft board and the Pats hasn’t a lot of picks (I expect them to trade back too for this year) nor the money to pay the guy, or the willing to do so. In the end I don’t expect anything to happen.
