Similar to the New England cornerback action from earlier in the week, this Saturday has brought with it a flurry of wide receiver activity. First came the Julian Edelman signing, then news of Kenny Britt’s planned Sunday visit, and now NFL’s Ian Rapoport has reported that Carolina WR Brandon LaFell is close to inking a deal with the Patriots.
The #Patriots are closing in on a deal with Brandon LaFell, according to a source. The deal is expected to be for 3 years and roughly $11M

LaFell set career highs in his 2013 season in receptions (49), targets (88), and touchdowns (5) with the Panthers. The six-foot-two LaFell could add depth and possibly serve as an opening day starter if added to the New England roster. He would likely be a much safer signing than someone like Kenny Britt, who comes equipped with an injury history and character concerns.
