Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘The Patriot Way’, your number one source to Patriots news and analysis from around the web.

In light of free agency starting, ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss says why the Pats haven’t been spending wisely over the last couple of years.

According to reports, the Pats are close to a deal with cornerback Aqib Talib. This would be a huge move for the Patriots, locking up one of the best corners in the game.

The Patriots re-signed tight end Michael Hoomanawanui to a two year deal yesterday, a quiet, but solid move. Assuming Rob Gronkowski returns healthy, and the Pats find another weapon to pair with him, Hooman should do just fine in a backup role.

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reported late last night that Aaron Dobson had surgery on his foot. He is scheduled to miss two to three months for recovery.

Finally, our own Jed Ober gives us his reasons why New England may go after defensive end Jason Babin, who voided his own contract last night.
