If Tom Brady has a say in whether or not Julian Edelman leaves New England, then the former Kent State quarterback will be playing for the Pats in 2014. According to ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss, Edelman worked out with Tom Brady today, and Brady was hopeful that he would be throwing passes to Edelman next season.

Reiss also said that the two sides are still talking (Patriots and Edelman), but “the market will ultimately dictate”.

I have shared my opinion on this situation far too many times, but I’ll give it to you again. I think Edelman can be replaced, and if the Pats sign Emmanuel Sanders, he will be replaced by a better player. I am not saying that Edelman can’t play, but he lacks the explosive skills of a Sanders. Not having someone that can take the top off of the defense has been the achilles heel of the Pats over the last couple of years, but the addition of Sanders may get them over the hump in the postseason.
