Yesterday, Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston reported that the Patriots had approached Vince Wilfork about a possible contract restructure.
The New England Patriots have had recent discussions with representatives for defensive tackle Vince Wilfork about altering Wilfork’s contract, according to sources familiar with the talks.
However today NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport said that there has been no contact between the two sides, although he did say it would makes sense for them to do it soon.
#Patriots have yet to broach the topic of a new deal for Vince Wilfork, who has an $11.6M cap charge. Makes sense to do so in coming days

Both of these guys are terrific reporters, and they both are usually correct when they break their stories. There is no telling who is right, but I think we all can agree that Wilfork’s situation must change. $11.6 million is way too much for Wilfork, and hopefully the two sides can come to a reasonable compromise in the near future.
