Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘The Patriot Way’, your number one source to Pats news and analysis from around the web.
ESPN Boston’s Field Yates breaks down the top offseason needs for the Patriots. Surprisingly, Yates doesn’t have the interior offensive line on the list, which I think needs to be upgraded immediately.
Be sure to check out Oliver Thomas’ Patriots seven round mock draft here. I like the idea of the Pats spending their first pick (albeit traded to early second round) on an offensive lineman. The common thought has been they will go with a tight end early, but the interior of the offensive line is also a big need, and Xavier Su’a-Filo may be able to fill it.
Boston.com’s Erik Frenz gives his Pats free agency wish list. Safety T.J. Ward is on the list, and that could be a match made in heaven for both parties. The Patriots need a hard hitting safety to pair with Devin McCourty, and Ward probably wants to be on the winning side of things, after spending the first portion of his career in Clevelend.
And finally, Mike Reiss continues his “free-agent fit” series, as the safeties are up next.
