Hello and welcome to The Patriots Way – New England Patriots News and links from around the web.
-CBS Sports has their take on the Patriots offseason as we near closer to the beginning of free agency. There are a number of questions that will be answered in the coming weeks, chiefly among them the landing spot for corner Aqib Talib. Talib’s decision to either re-sign or leave New England could set the tone and the offseason gameplan for the Patriots, not only in terms of having a corner, but also cap space.
- At least one person thinks that Talib is a better option for the Patriots than Darrelle Revis. Taking contract and what it would cost to trade for Revis into consideration, I would have to agree. Revis currently costs double what Talib is projected to receive, and would come with at least a first round pick price tag, a pick in a deep draft where I won’t even be mad when the Patriots inevitably trade down in the first round after I’ve watched for hours waiting for the pick. (I lied, I’ll still get mad).
- If we wanted to remove money from the equation, I imagine we could all come up with a list of free agents we would like.
- Apparently the Browns will look into the paper that Patriots advisor, and former Browns GM, Michael Lombardi was holding at the combine. It can’t be out of the question that the man who was just fired would have blank paper with the Browns letterhead on it. For what it’s worth, the Browns do not seem to nervous about it.
