According to Chris Wesseling of NFL.com, it appears that wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will not be back in Pittsburgh next season. This prompts us to think that the Patriots may attempt to go after Sanders, especially considering the fact that they tried to reel him in last offseason. Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston said a couple of days ago that if the Steelers do in fact let Sanders walk, New England will probably go after him again. Here is what Reiss had to say on Sanders:
If the Patriots lose Julian Edelman, there’s little reason to think the Patriots wouldn’t show the same level of interest in Sanders again.
Assuming Sanders doesn’t demand a ridiculous contract, I see no reason why the Pats can’t try to sign him. He is a versatile guy, as he can play both on the inside, and outside the numbers. He also is much more explosive than a Julian Edelman, and even though I love Edelman, having someone like Sanders that can take the top off of the defense could help them come playoff time.
Sanders caught 67 passes, 740 yards and six touchdowns last year, it what was definitely his best year as a Steeler.
