NFL Draft: Analyzing CBS Sports' Mock Drafts

With the 2014 NFL Draft coming up, now is the time for mock drafts to dominate the internet. CBS Sports put together a summary of four big name mock drafts, and as usual, tight end Jace Amaro was a common pick for the Patriots.

Three of the four analysts pick Amaro, with Rob Rang choosing defensive end Stephon Tuitt, instead of Amaro. I would really like to see New England select Amaro, not only to provide a solid insurance plan for Rob Gronkowski, but the combination of Amaro and Gronk could become deadly. Amaro isn’t the best blocking tight end, but he can split out wide and create a mismatch on pretty much every single play. He has great athleticism for his size, and playing behind Gronkowski could really help him develop into a good NFL tight end.

Tuitt is a talented guy, totaling 21.5 sacks in his three year career at Notre Dame. He is a versatile defensive end, which is something that Bill Belichick and company always like. Depth along the defensive line is a big need for New England this offseason, and even though I would much rather see Amaro be taken in the first round, Tuitt wouldn’t be a bad second option.
