NFL.com released their annual ‘All-Under-25 Team’ a couple of days ago, and one Patriot made the cut. Chandler Jones, the sensational defensive end, was named to the squad, which was definitely well deserved. Jones finished the 2013 season with 11.5 sacks, and perhaps more impressive, he played 98.1% of the total defensive snaps the Patriots had this past season. Durability is sometimes an issue for young players like Jones, especially when he asked to do so much within the Pats’ defense.
Jones still needs to make some improvements on his game, but he is quickly emerging as one of the best young pass rushers in the league. He struggles at times against the run, so I would expect him to attempt to put on some weight this offseason. If he does that, and maybe add a few more moves to his pass rushing arsenal, then the sky is the limit for Mr. Jones.
Here is what NFL.com had to say on Jones, and his 2013 campaign.
When you think of young studs, this guy does not immediately come to mind. He should. How is this for a second season in the league: 11.5 sacks, 79 tackles and 34 combined knockdowns/hurries?
