According to pro32.ap.org, Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL, made $44.2 million in the 2013.

Yup, you read that right.

Goodell is the “head” of the NFL, but $44.2 million is crazy. To give you some perspective, the highest paid player in the league, is Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers, who makes roughly $22 million (via Sports Illustrated). Goodell making twice as much as the highest paid guy in the NFL? I don’t know about that.

Here is a list of the 10 highest paid players in the league:

1) Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers-$22 million

2) Baltimore Ravens’ Joe Flacco-$20.1 million

3) New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees-$20 million

4) Denver Broncos’ Peyton Manning-$19.2 million

5) Detroit Lions’ Calvin Johnson-$18.8 million

6) Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Romo-$18 million

7) New York Giants’ Eli Manning-$15.2 million

8) Buffalo Bills’ Mario Williams-$16 million

9) Arizona Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald-$14.1 million

10) New England Patriots’ Tom Brady-$14.1 million

I am not advocating that guys playing a game should get that much money, but if you disagree with them getting that much money, then I don’t think the general public would approve of Mr. Goodell getting $44.2 million.

With all due respect, I don’t think you understand how businesses work if you’re upset over how much Goodell made.

If he made 44.2mil and the league brought in an estimated 10 BILLION (that’s with a B), then he made 0.442% of what the league brought in.

Less than half a percent is miniscule compared to what Zuckerberg made off of Facebook.

In 2013, Facebook brought in almost 8 billion in revenue. Zuck’s 2012 take-home was around 1 billion. His salary is officially 1 buck, but he gets compensated through stock options and other bonuses. That’s about 12% of what the company brought in. TWELVE PERCENT!!! I’m sure you could compare other ceos and what they make, and I bet it would be just as much up there.

    12% compared to 0.442%

That about 25 times what Goodell makes.

If anything Mr Goodell doesn’t get paid enough for how much he’s helped the NFL generate in revenue. Yes, the players deserve every penny they get, but you’ve gotta remember who runs the show. I don’t know of any company where the employees make more than the owner.

If you want to be mad about anything, be mad at every fan, including you and me, who agrees to spend that much money on games, or cable subscriptions or merchandise or anything NFL related because it’s US who’s filling their pockets that much.

    Something to think about…
