When the Cleveland Browns inexplicably let go of Michael Lombardi, anybody that is familiar with the game of football knew that he would find work quickly. The Browns really are a dysfunctional franchise. They have a lot of talent down there, but the management always seems to screw it up (sorry, just had to give my two cents on the Browns).
Chris Fedor, Community Engagement Specialist of Sports for Northeast Ohio Media Group, has said that while nothing is official, it is looking like Lombardi may end up in Foxboro. Lombardi worked under Bill Belichick in Cleveland a while back, so if he does in fact end up in New England, it would be a reunion of sorts for Belichick and Lombardi (evil football nerds getting back together).
There is no telling what position Lombardi would fill, but based on the widespread support Lombardi has gotten from NFL experts, I think the Pats adding him to their franchise would do nothing but help the team work towards another Super Bowl title.
Here is a quick run down of Lombardi’s travels in the NFL:
Scout in San Francisco.
Pro Personnel Director, Director Of Player Personnel in Cleveland.
Brief stint in St. Louis.
Director Of Pro Personnel in Philadelphia.
Senior Personnel Executive in Oakland.
General Manager in Cleveland.
