Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reported earlier today that cornerback Kyle Arrington would go under knife this Friday, to repair his injured groin. Arrington was injured for the majority of the 2013 season, and it is good to hear that he will get it fixed, so he can be at his absolute best for 2014. The surgery is expected to keep him out for roughly six weeks, but it puts him in good position to be 100% for training camp in July.

Arrington takes a lot of heat among Patriots fan, but when he is in the slot, he is very good. When moved to the outside, he is one of the worst cover guys in the NFL, but that doesn’t mean we should slander him completely. If New England brings back Aqib Talib, I think they will once again have one of the best cornerback groups in the league, and Arrington is a big part of that. Having a guy that can cover the slot is important in today’s NFL, especially with the Broncos (and Wes Welker) standing in New England’s way in the AFC.
